No Child Deserves This

By Omolola Talkstv

At Omolola Talkstv, we believe that culture is not only about language, tradition, and history. It is also about values. Humanity. Responsibility.

And sometimes, a single moment reminds us how far we are drifting from these values.

A video showing children standing helplessly in the rain has been circulating. It is difficult to watch. Not because rain is unfamiliar to us, but because of what surrounds it.

Adults were present. A camera was present. But protection was missing.

And this raises serious questions.

When Recording Comes Before Responsibility

Who was behind the camera?

Why was the first instinct to record instead of to protect?

Before awareness, before sharing, before public sympathy, there should have been immediate action. Those children should have been taken out of the rain. That is the first responsibility of any adult.

At Omolola Talkstv, we must ask:

When did we begin to document suffering instead of addressing it?

Children Are Not Content

There is a growing culture where human vulnerability becomes public material. But children must never be part of that.

Children are not tools for engagement. They are not objects for sympathy.

They are lives that must be protected.

If the intention was to create awareness, then dignity should have come first. Protection should have come first. Care should have come first.

Anything less is a failure of responsibility.

A Call for Accountability

We cannot ignore a deeper issue.

Why are children placed in situations where they are exposed like this?

Parenthood is not just about bringing life into the world. It is about being prepared to care for that life. To protect it. To provide for it.

No child chooses their environment.

But every child deserves safety, dignity, and care.

Our Values Must Reflect in Our Actions

As a society, we must reflect.

Are we becoming more concerned with capturing moments than correcting them?

Are we losing the urgency to act?

At Omolola Talkstv, we stand for values that protect humanity, especially the most vulnerable.

Because culture without compassion is empty.

Final Thought

No child deserves to be left in the rain while adults watch.

No child deserves to become a moment for public reaction before becoming a priority for care.

This is not just a disturbing sight. It is a call to do better.

As individuals. As parents. As a society.
