The call came unexpectedly.

Private line.

No trace.

It was him.

“Meet me,” Governor Kola said.

No threats.

No pressure.

Just… calm authority.

When they met, something was different.

No performance.

No cameras.

Just a man… and his truth.

“Yes,” he said.

“The system is dirty.”

Adanna stayed silent.

“But I didn’t create it.”

He looked at her not as an enemy this time.

But as someone who might understand.

“If I don’t compromise… I don’t survive.”

Heavy.

Uncomfortable.

Real.

“Would you rather a saint who loses…”

Pause.

“…or a sinner who builds roads?”
