EPISODE 5: The Investment

The next morning, Omotola sat at her desk with a cup of coffee slowly going cold in her hand. Her eyes were fixed on the email open on her laptop.

She had read it three times already.

Anonymous Investment: Your brand has been backed for six months.

Her heart skipped.

Who would invest in her business without even introducing themselves?

Why now?

Curiosity pushed her to dig deeper. One search led to another until she saw the name.

Tade.

For a moment, she just sat there.

Her mind drifted back to the night the generator went off. The brush of his hand. The quiet way he paid attention to things most people overlooked. The feeling that he saw something in her she had not fully seen in herself yet.

Later that day, she found him at the café.

He looked up when she walked in, already sensing something was on her mind.

“Why?” she asked, sitting across from him.

Her voice was steady, but curiosity and disbelief sat just beneath it.

A faint smile touched his lips.

“Because I saw something in you long before you saw it in yourself.”

Her stomach fluttered.

“And you never thought to tell me?”

He leaned back slightly, his eyes calm on hers.

“Some things are better done quietly,” he said. “That way you can grow without pressure. You can build your dream the way you want, not because someone is watching.”

Omotola felt her heart beating faster than she expected.

But then another thought crept in.

Aisha.

If Tade’s past was as powerful as he had hinted, an investment like this would not stay hidden for long.

And if Aisha’s family noticed…

This was no longer just about feelings.

It was about power.

And she had just stepped into the middle of it.
